A Day on the Street

Yesterday was a sunny day that you could sing about.
This summer has had some pretty bad weekends and a lot of rain overall, but I got lucky and The Seville Art Walk was on this day.  This is a small town three miles from me that is becoming a great little hub of antiques and cool little shops.  Last year was the first for the event and it fell on the ONLY day it rained all summer. It was so awful I didn't even mention it on my then new blog.
I stepped it up this year to a canopy and a fun pennant banner for a sign.
Here is the setting up. The banner letters are courtesy of THE GRAPHICS FAIRY. The ladder goes from being a set up helper to a display piece later.

I was permitted to span the sidewalk and everyone had to pass through. It made all the men duck a little though!

The ladder as display. I splatter painted it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and call it my Monet ladder.

  1. The vendor next to me displayed her glass flower garden ornaments in the flowery patch we both enjoyed. These are so cool and they have "stems" that allow you to turn the glass horizontally to make a bird bath.

Around the corner and all over the main intersection were other cool vendors and shops who I had little opportunity to visit. Too bad, but over all I did pretty well for such a small event which may grow each year.  Visit Seville HERE. And  thanks to Michelle at Funky Junk Boutique on Facebook or HERE

Challenge: How many Graphics Fairy images can you find in these photos?

Craft Show Fail

This is the way it looked all day...no people!

Yesterday was my first real craft show and it was a bust. I got late notification and so I spent the whole month of October preparing. Not knowing what to expect, I tried to have something to please a variety of tastes so I would know the best way to go in the future.

Little did I know that the late notification I got extended to the public who had no notification and a show that had previously drawn a large crowd had barely a trickle of attendance.  Others who have done this show before said booths were fewer and most of us bought from each other.  Luckily a table was only $30 so I made that back plus $10 but I  spent more than the $10 to help out others.  I am not in this to make a lot. I basically need to recoup some costs of materials but...

Maybe Etsy?

Well, here are a couple items for the guys. Hubby is modeling while pretending to cook. All of these sport images gleaned from the fabulous Graphics Fairy.

Travel Treasures

Country Living Fair
I've been traveling lately and brought home more stuff I couldn't live without.  My friend Susan and I drove to Columbus on Sept. 14th for the Country Living Fair.  It was a fun day trip but I can't imagine spending 3 days...yes, their were 3 day passes available.  I did come home with:

And a great wipe clean bib for my grand-daughter.

I was especially excited about the Provencal placemats.  If you love this fabric as much as I do see www.lacigale-usa.com

The very next day hubby and I flew off to New York City for 5 days and 4 nights. If you want to know what else we did you can check out my travel blog at http://cheryl-susan.blogspot.com/

Our first full day in NYC started with a visit to Hell's Kitchen Flea Market.
I collected this:

I plan to copy the decal images in my scanner. They are so retro/in right now. They got a bit messed up from being stuffed in a suitcase so I will have to clean them up a bit, too.

I saved the trip to Fashion Ave. for the very last afternoon. The first stop was M&J Trimming.  If only this store were close to home.  It was hard to know what to buy. I tried to only go for the stuff I knw I could use and not just drool over.
This shows less than half of the place

Then it was off to MOOD! If you are a fan of Project Runway you know all about MOOD. My only photo I took turned out blurry, but it looks exactly like the show and the staff was extremely nice.  If you ever go there it is easy to miss because you have to enter a hallway from the street and then go up an elevator WITH an operator to the 3rd floor. There are stairs to the additional 4th floor level.

This is what I bought. Two yards of a heavy cotton with a little stretch. The plan is to make a tunic.

I better get busy soon.  I seem to be more eager to shop than sew!
